Motion Capture Services: VCap

VCap is a motion capture studio based on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand. The studio specialises in high quality full body and hand capture with particular attention paid to optimising data for driving mesh correctives. The studio also has experience creating mocap data specifically for training the next generation of neural networks. Please see here for more details.

VCap has a 72 square metre studio equipped with 50 Qualysis mocap cameras for full body tracking and Manus Quantum Metagloves for hand and finger mocap.

VCap studio offers an end-to-end service for the production of motion captured sequences, from planning the shoot all the way through to retargetting to a 3D character, with or without props. A visit to the island of Koh Phangan to do a mocap shoot makes for a wonderful business trip! However, VCap also offer remote directing facilities and are able to source talent locally, so clients are not required to visit the island.

VCap plan to do periodic 'Community Shoots' whereby multiple Indie studio mocap sequences will all be captured in one day, thus dramatically reducing the cost of bespoke motion capture for Indie studios.

VCap studio is prepared for the AI revolution in 3D character animation and has already produced a large volume of motion capture data in readiness for commercial neural network driven animation and locomotion systems becoming available.
